Founder

Nav was born and raised in a village in Punjab, India, and immigrated to Canada 25 years ago. She started her professional journey in the food industry as a cook at her family restaurant in Vancouver, worked in hospitality, and graduated as a Red Seal Baker and certified Instructor.

Growing up in Punjab, food has always been an important part of her life as her parents owned a small-scale dairy farm and dairy processing plant. Learning to cook from her mother and grandmother, she started her baking journey after her son developed life-threatening nut allergies. Unable to find any safe baked goods, she started her own nut-free bakery, Sugar & Spice Bakeshop.

Why Pind de Pantry?

My village, my Pind, inspires Pind de Pantry. As a young girl growing up in Northern India, I was always in the kitchen helping my mom. From making roti on a wood-fired stove, “Chulla”, to helping cook a variety of dishes. I have watched women around me making meals from scratch every day. It’s their story, memories their hands carried throughout life. Every dish started with Tadka. Pind de Pantry is an effort to keep the legacy of my great-grandmother, grandmother, mother, and all the Punjabi women who cook tirelessly to provide meals for their families. It’s my effort to inspire the younger generation that homemade Punjabi food is something we should all be proud of. This is my homage to my village — a story of hard work, resilience, and love for good food.
